Wesley R. Edens was appointed to Chairman of Nationstar Mortgage in 2012. He has been Co-Chairman of the board of directors of Fortress, an affiliate of our Initial Stockholder, since August 2009. From 2006 to 2009, he was Chairman of the board of directors of Fortress. He has also been a member of the Management Committee of Fortress since co-founding Fortress in 1998. He is responsible for Fortress’s private equity and publicly traded alternative investment businesses. He is also Chairman of the board of directors of each of Aircastle Limited, Brookdale Senior Living Inc., Eurocastle Investment Limited, Florida East Coast Railway Corp., GateHouse Media, Inc., Mapeley Limited, Newcastle Investment Corp. and RailAmerica, Inc. and a director of GAGFAH S.A., Penn National Gaming Inc., Springleaf Finance Corporation and Springleaf Finance Inc. Mr. Edens was Chief Executive Officer of Global Signal Inc., a real estate investment trust, from February 2004 to April 2006 and Chairman of its board of directors from October 2002 to January 2007. Prior to forming Fortress, Mr. Edens was a partner and managing director of BlackRock Financial Management Inc., where he headed BlackRock Asset Investors, a private equity fund. In addition, Mr. Edens was formerly a partner and managing director of Lehman Brothers. Mr. Edens holds a B.S. in Finance from Oregon State University.
Jay Bray is President and Chief Executive Officer of Nationstar and has been with the Company since May 2000. Mr. Bray's responsibilities include all financial planning, profit analysis, secondary marketing, risk management, technology and all other areas that have financial implications on Nationstar. Mr. Bray’s prior experience includes over six years with Bank of America, Consumer Finance Group, where he held a variety of leadership roles. At Bank of America, Mr. Bray managed the Asset Backed Securitization process for mortgage related products and his responsibilities included developing and implementing a secondary execution strategy and profitability plan, managing investment banking relationships, secondary marketing operations, investor reporting and investor relations. Additionally, Mr. Bray led the portfolio acquisition, pricing and modeling group, acquiring over $9 billion in non-conforming mortgages in 1999. In prior positions, Mr. Bray served as the Director of Accounting and Finance with Barnett Bank, Inc. and was an Audit Manager with Arthur Andersen in Atlanta, Ga. for seven years.
Mr. Bray holds a B.A.A. from Auburn University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Georgia.
Shawn Stone is currently Executive Vice President of Special Servicing for Nationstar Mortgage LLC. Mr. Stone assumed this position in January 2010 and reports to the EVP-Servicing. His current responsibilities include management of a $2 billion Special Servicing portfolio and new business development efforts related to sourcing new clients. Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Stone was Nationstar’s EVP of Capital Markets with responsibilities including all securitization, accounting, investor reporting, finance, inventory and whole loan origination reporting to the CFO.
Mr. Stone joined Nationstar (formerly Centex Home Equity Company) in April 1997 in the Secondary Marketing Department where he led Product Development while also trading assets on a servicing released and retained basis. He also initiated a de novo Insurance department in 1998 and served as Regional Vice President in 1999-2001 within the Retail Branch division. In January 2001, Mr. Stone was promoted to Vice President of Capital Markets where he managed the Asset Backed Securitization program while also managing Secondary Marketing activity with GSE and institutional investors. In August 2002, he was promoted to Senior Vice President of Capital Markets, where he assumed responsibility for all Risk Management, Quality Control and Treasury functions. In September 2003, Mr. Stone was promoted to Senior Vice President of Correspondent Lending with full profit and loss responsibilities for the division.
Prior to joining Nationstar, Mr. Stone was employed with Ford Consumer Finance in New England as a Management Development Program Trainee, Wholesale Account Executive and District Manager within the Boston, MA market. Mr. Stone has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island (1993) and Master of Business Administration in Finance from University of Texas at Dallas (2001).
